My mum found out she had breast cancer on 14th dec 07 and having gone through an operation and both
chemotherapy and radiotherapy was taken in to hospital on 24th Sept 08 and we were told that the
cancer was back only worse and they struggled and struggled to help mum on ward 2 at the western
general in edinburgh and seemed to be succeeding as mum was getting back to having a laugh etc and
doctors had talked of getting mums cancer controlled enough for her to get home but unfortunately in
the early hours of 04/10/2008 mum very peacefully passed away with both my dad and sister and myself
by her side.We would like to thank the many family, friends and work mates who paid there respects
to our wonderful Mum and best friend at her funeral.

Desert Memories xx
Mum, I'm home safe and well from Sahara!! It was the most emotional 5 days of my life.. Ever step I took brought another memory and another tears..there were sad tears, happy tears and team tears!! I spent the time with the most amazing bunch of people and have made new friends for life, I will be keeping intouch with every single one of them.
I laughed, I cried and I looked up and thought I can't do it...but something inside me kept me going along with hugs of encouragement from the gang. I wonder if you were with Donna as you watched over us?
I pee'd behind sand dunes, bushes and tents but the worst was down the dirtiest hole in a little village on the way to the start of the trek... and my first though was... 'EMMA HAMILTON, THAT IS FILTHY.. MAKE SURE YOU HOVER OVER IT AND WASH YOUR HANDS PROPERLY!!!' , the hovering wasn't an issue as it was very much just a hole in the ground and I have never used so much anti-bac hand gel in my entire life!! :)
I learnt so much from the local guides..Abdoula,Mohammed and Hamed but the most important thing they told me was that my name means 'My Mother' in thier native berber language. It brought a tear but only because I was so proud.
It was such a big journey for me mum, I missed everyone at home so much but I knew you would be watching over me and I hope you are proud of what I done...once you stopped shouting at me being crazy enough to do it in the first place!!
I love you so much and evry step was for you xxxxxxx

A Prayer for my Meg.
Our Father, who art in heaven,
hallowed be thy name.
Thy Kingdom come,
thy will be done,
on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread.
And forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation,
but deliver us from evil.
For thine is the kingdom,
the power and the glory,
for ever and ever.
Amen
Love you!xx Jim 'SEE YOU SOON'
